Thirteen Things I Love About Being A Writer
1. I can sleep in as late as I want. 2. My clothing doesn't have to match when I go out in public because looking at me, no one would guess I write hot, torrid romances. 3. Slippers are appropriate shoes to wear to the store. 4. I can ask people the most intimate and bizarre questions and it's okay because, 'I'm a writer.' 5. Just love it when a reader asks me to sign a book, especially when it's mine. 6. I can write off my vacations...um...research trips. 7. I can wander around my house talking to myself and no one will call the funny farm. 8. Living off frozen dinners and take out is perfectly acceptable behavior. 9. I don't have to do housework because I am easily sidetracked and rarely manage to finish anything domestic (Thank God for crock pots!) 10. My vacation time is whenever and where ever I want it to be. 11. Meeting the readers is great fun and I spend most of that time hoping I don't have something stuck in my teeth or a boogie hanging out of my nose. 12. I am constantly amused by all the voices in my head so I'm never really alone. 13. Did I mention the slippers?

Being an unpublished writer negates many of these advantages. I am seen as just a lazy bum! My TT is also posted.
Joan - Before I was published people said the same thing about my 'hobby'. Ignore them - living well is the best revenge. :)

LOVE IT! LOL
Esp writing off my vacations, lol. And it's the perfect excuse to take a vacation too.

You make me long for my days as a freelance copywriter! There were many things I loved about that life. While I'm glad I have the security and the benefits that come from having permanent employment, in advertising permanent employment is never really "permanent" and it's good to be reminded of how attractive the alternative can be. (My TT is also up.)
Since when did you start doing the TT, wench?
and FYI... this doesn't apply when you have squishies. aka babies...
I can sleep in as late as I want.
:OP
And JC, fess up. Half of those things aren't because you're a writer... it's cuz you're weird!
Smooch!
My TT.
I never really got the knack of slippers. I just go barefoot when working from home.
Hello J.C., good to meet you! Loved your list, especially the slippers. I am all about slippers. Happy TTing,
DK

I want to write! AND, I love being lazy and sleeping late - I should fit right in. I've gotten to wearing my slippers outside, and to the PO. :)
Check out my TT.
I telecommute some days so I can relate. I take my kid to school in my p.j.'s, grab a fruit smoothie at the drive-through and conduct a lot of business with people who would never suspect that I am sitting here in my nightshirt with no bra on. :-)
That's it, I need to become a writer. I never match unless someone else picks out my clothes ;(

All good reasons to be a writer. My TT this week is about my writing spouse, Nicholas (also a TTer). Fortunately he has a Patron so he doesn't have to worry about the tricky bits that precede success...
Hmm...I think I need to take another trip to apease the voices in my head.
I especially love writing off my trips to the craft store for MORE BEADS!
My TT is up - 13 places I've been fortunate to travel.
okay... i write and write. still unpublished! i love that list..i see it just ahead of me!
LOL I wrote about the same subject today on my TT, although your list had some things that I hadn't considered. *g*
Hmm, I'm still squeezing my writing in around my day job.
I'm looking forward to being able to do some of these, especially the vacation/research trips!

Great list JC, I agree with them all. But here's one of my favorites: I can sit at Starbucks for several hours, drinking Chai Tea lattes, mumbling to myself and gesturing wildly at my laptop as I act out scenes inside my head, and no one calls the funny farm...lol. But that's probably only because I've already given all the cops who hang out in there bookmarks for their wives! :)
This sounds a lot like my retirement--although I write and don't publish.
Speaking of writing, my TT is about books. http://collectingmythoughts.blogspot.com/2007/05/thursday-thirteen-my-book-house.html
