The Junk Drawer...

Yes, I realize it's Foto Friday and I normally put up something pretty, thought provoking or fun - but this week I thought I'd just put up something that provokes me.
This is a photo of what I call my cord drawer. This is the top drawer of my filing cabinet that sits next to my desk. Now, I'd love to keep handy things in there like office supplies, files, paper for the printer...
BUT NO....
Every other week the cords take over. I swear, I clean this drawer at least twice a month and the moment I'm not looking, gremlins get in there, tangle up the cords to ensure I can't find anything. I gave up keeping much of anything in that drawer because it just gets caught in the cords, flipped out of the drawer and onto the floor.
Do you think it's a conspiracy? Are the cords trying to form a union and take control of my filing cabinet?
Cheeky monkeys. Today I'm armed with zip ties and labels, we'll see who wins this battle!

There really are a lot of cords out there! But the drawer doesn't look too bad yet! LOL. :)

I my new kitchen I have not one but TWO junk drawers. I feel so queenly, to have more than one! :) One of them is taken up mostly by batteries, the other by flashlights.

I swear, when we moved out of our last house I found tons of unidentifiable bits of...stuff that my husband wouldn't throw away.

I threw it away.

Shhh, don't tell him!

One person's treasure is another's junk. There is no such ting as junk! I used to clean out all of the "junk" and then I needed it a week later and had to go purchase it again. With cords, I put them in a recycled ziplock bag and label the bag for that just in case time. No tangles, and they don't run away like socks do in the dryer. Pat Catans, a local craft store also has plastic boxes of various sizes that I store articles in for quick usage. I bought a "Brother" lable maker and use that to keep up with all of that junk in the plastic boxes. Perhaps I'm too anal but the storage system works for me. Hazaa, no junk drawers.
